Awareness Program on “Say No to Drugs” Initiated by Cyberabad Police, Hyderabad

On 18th July 2024, Siva Sivani Degree College hosted an awareness program titled “Say No to Drugs,” initiated by the Cyberabad Police, Hyderabad. This event was organized to educate students about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of staying drug-free. The session began at 11:00 AM in the SSDC Seminar Hall and saw active participation from students, faculty, and staff.
Objective:
The primary objective of the program was to raise awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse, the legal implications, and the importance of making informed and healthy life choices.
Program Details:
1. Opening Remarks:
The program commenced with a welcome address by Principal Mrs. P. Mamatha. She emphasized the significance of such awareness programs in fostering a safe and healthy environment for students.
2. Keynote Speaker:
– The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Ramulu, ACP, Petbashirbagh. He spoke passionately about the rising issue of drug abuse among youth and the steps being taken by the police to combat this menace. His address included real-life anecdotes and statistical data to highlight the severity of the issue.
3. Presentation by Anti-Drug Experts:
-A team of experts from the Cyberabad Police’s Anti-Drug Task Force conducted an informative presentation. They discussed the various types of drugs, their effects on the human body and mind, and the long-term consequences of drug addiction.

The presentation also covered the legal ramifications of drug possession and trafficking, aiming to deter students from getting involved in such activities.
4. Interactive Session:
– An interactive session followed the presentation, where students were encouraged to ask questions and share their thoughts. The experts addressed the queries with detailed explanations, providing clarity on misconceptions and myths related to drug use.
5. Special Address by Mrs. Lalita Tims:
– Mrs. Lalita Tims, Program Manager, Women’s Forum & Education Vertical, Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), delivered a special address. She highlighted the role of educational institutions and community organizations in combating drug abuse and supporting affected individuals. Her speech emphasized the importance of collective efforts in creating a drug-free society.
6. Testimonies:
– The program included testimonies from individuals who had successfully overcome drug addiction. Their personal stories were powerful and moving, serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration for students.
7. Pledge Against Drugs:
– Towards the end of the program, all attendees were invited to take a pledge to stay drug-free and to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse in their communities.
Feedback:
The awareness program received positive feedback from students and faculty alike. Many students expressed that the session was eye-opening and educational. They appreciated the efforts of the Cyberabad Police, Mrs. Lalita Tims, and the college administration in organizing such a crucial event.

Traffice Awareness

The importance of traffic awareness cannot be overstated, especially for students who are frequent pedestrians and cyclists. To address this critical need, our institution recently conducted a comprehensive Traffic Awareness Program aimed at educating students about the fundamentals of road safety, responsible behavior, and the importance of following traffic rules.
Objectives:
– To educate students on the basic traffic rules and regulations.
To raise awareness about the dangers of road traffic and how to avoid accidents.
– To promote responsible behavior while walking, cycling, or using other modes of transport.
– To instill a sense of responsibility and community awareness among students.
Activities Conducted:
1. Interactive Presentations: Sri. K. VENKAT REDDY, Asst.Commissioner of Police, Medchal Traffic Division gave detailed presentations on traffic signs, signals, and road markings. These sessions were interactive, allowing students to ask questions and engage in discussions.
2. Role-Playing Exercises: Students participated in role-playing exercises where they took on the roles of pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. This activity helped them understand the perspectives and responsibilities
of different road users.
3.Quiz Competitions: To test their knowledge, students took part in quiz competitions focused on traffic rules and road safety. Winners were awarded certificates and prizes to encourage participation and interest.
Outcomes:
– Students demonstrated a significant improvement in their understanding of traffic rules and safety measures.
– There was a noticeable increase in responsible behavior among students while navigating roads.
The program fostered a sense of community responsibility and mutual respect among students.
