Bonalu Celebrations
On 20-07-2024 the vibrant spirit of Bonalu festival reverberated through the corridors of Siva Sivani Degree College, Kompally as students came together to celebrate this traditional Telangana festival with enthusiasm and zeal.
Significance of Bonalu: Bonalu is a significant festival in Telangana, dedicated to Goddess Mahankali. It is celebrated with fervent devotion to seek her blessings for prosperity and protection.
Bonalu is a traditional Hindu festival celebrated in various parts of Hyderabad, including Secunderabad, and other regions of Telangana state. It falls during the Ashada Masam, typically in July or August. During this festival, fervent worship is offered to Goddess Yellamma in her various forms, such as Mysammma, Pochamma, and Dokkalaınmal. The Bonalu festivities commence with solemn ceremonies at Golconda Fort on the first Sunday of Aashaadam. Subsequently, devotees gather at the Ujjaini Mahakali Temple in Secunderabad and the Balkampet Yellamma Temple on the second Sunday

Decorations: Students adorned the college premises with colorful rangolis and traditional motifs, creating an ambiance reminiscent of Telangana’s cultural heritage.
Pooja and Rituals: A ceremonial pooja was conducted with utmost reverence, where students actively participated in offering prayers and performing rituals.
Cultural Performances: The highlight of the celebrations was the energetic performances of Bonalu Jatara, Kolatam, and other folk dances, showcasing the cultural diversity and talent among the student body.
Traditional Attire: Many students dressed in traditional attire, adding to the festive atmosphere and connecting deeply with their cultural roots.
